Apple may face a class action lawsuit over the loss of text messages

Following a ruling in a California court, Apple may face a class action lawsuit over the loss of ‘countless’ text messages, caused by the company’s iMessage service.

The case turns on the iMessage feature, which allows Apple users to send text messages to each other and, in many cases, avoid phone carriers texting fees. The feature is popular with iPhone users, but has proved a major headache for people who switch to a non-Apple phone.

California resident Adrienne Moore filed a case against Apple back in May, on behalf of herself and other former iPhone users who missed text messages after switching to non-Apple phones. Her victory allows her to push forward with a class action lawsuit against Apple, claiming “a tortious interference with contract”.
